We went for a birthday lunch. We both had the Greek salad. He had the broiled snapper with collard greens and black eyed peas. I had the fried snapper almondine with creamed corn and buttered squash. Everything was delicious. Unfortunately we did not have room for dessert. I would highly recommend for a special occasion. The only thing I wasn't fond of was the appetizer menu. Everything was shrimp or shellfish which I am allergic. It would have been nice to have another option.
We came in based on the recommendation of local friends. The service was very friendly and impeccable. As first time visitors, we were given a small bowl of gumbo to try. Yummy. Our salads were large and the homemade dressings were delicious. I had the Greek dressing and loved all the feta in it. My husband had the blue cheese dressing and there was a bunch of crumbled blue cheese with it. My husband and I both had the broiled seafood platter. The portion sizes were large. Everything was very fresh. We all left stuffed and happy. Thank you for a nice evening.
We are huge University of Alabama fans, and they seated us at the Bear Bryant table! What a great experience! Food is always good here and service is great too. I insist that you try the Lemon Ice Box Pie. It's so good it should be mandatory. We live this place.

Wow, what a great experience having lunch at the same booth that Bear Bryant used to eat in. Thanks to the wonderful staff of Bright Star, this was an experience I will never forget. Ps: Food was fantastic also.
I was sad they were out of beef tips — but it turns out the roast sirloin beef was even better. Friendly server. A local institution. We don’t live close by, but we make trips here for the quality food. I tasted my wife’s catfish — it was great. And the SIDES here are good. Prepared as well as the main entrees.

We went here today after not visiting for almost 15 years. We just moved back to the area. This place is a gem! The Greek tenderloin is fantastic and the fried oysters were wonderful. Our server, Britany was friendly, courteous and she suggested great options. We’ll definitely be back soon.
Easily one of the TOP THREE BEST Restaurant experiences in my lifetime!!! There were Eight of us, including two kids, and EVERYONE said their respective entrees were perfect. I had the Snapper Throat and am unable to accurately describe how EXCELLENT it was!! Best service EVER. Got to meet the owner and that was very special. Can’t wait to go back!!
My first visit to Bright star was this past weekend. Unfortunately, they were out of the snapper throats. However, we enjoyed the seafood platter, the fried crab claws, and the crab and lobster au gratin. Topped it off with pineapple cheese slice for dessert. It was truly a wonderful dining experience with excellent customer service. I most definitely will be back.
